TopRockInternet.com was indexed and placed into Yahoo SERPs late last night. As discussed in a previous article, we did not get the exact meta title cached into the search engines (internet marketing expert in denver). However, the results that we are currently seeing in Yahoo for terms like denver internet marketing and denver seo will be discussed. Please remember this site was launched on February 16th, 2010 and is still very new to the search engines. Most of the ranking that is being seen relates directly to on-page seo we implemented and is based on the web design and content itself. We will begin link building and other seo strategies over the next few months.
As of our first indexing, the site sits at number 10 for the term denver internet marketing. This was rather surprising as we did not expect such a positive response from yahoo in such a short period of time. We achieved the same ranking for internet marketing denver. This should come as no surprise as yahoo most likely is treating those two ways of searching in an identical manner.
We did not fair so well for denver seo as the site is currently ranked number 57. The reason for this being seen is quite evident if you look at the cache version that yahoo currently has for the site. Our meta title states "internet marketing expert in denver" if you take a look at the yahoo cache. There is no reference to the word seo in the current title tag that is being used to produce yahoo serps (search engine results pages).
So, the next question is why did we achieve any ranking in yahoo for denver seo when the meta title doesn't use the term? The answer can be found in our header tags including h1, h2 and h3. Yahoo is still giving us some credence as a denver seo company because we have utilized that term in some capacity in the actual headings and home page content. If we want to rank higher, we will need to make sure that we implement the word "seo" into our meta title. This is exactly what we did today and this addition should be enough to raise our site ranking a few spots prior to us engaging in an extensive link building campaign for toprockinternet.com.
Many SEO and Internet marketing companies (in Denver or elsewhere) do not place much emphasis upon proper on-page search engine optimization. Quite honestly, it is not really taught in detail by national based SEO experts (most are just link builders) and is tough information to come by if you have not been in the business for quite a number of years.
